Description
An original compliments slip on which George Harrison has handwritten a note to a car dealer friend of his in black ink. George has signed the note with his initials. The compliments slip reads:
‘-it’s nice doing business with yer!
1 large for 928s.
1 small for 3.3. Turbo
Thanks G.H.
P.S. If I sell “YOU 5” privately – what would be the best price I could expect?’
During his life George Harrison became seriously interested in the spiritual world. But George’s message to his Porsche dealer betrays a more secular interest– that of getting a good deal! Incidentally, during conversation that took place whilst this correspondence was being purchased the Porsche dealer recalled his relationship with the former Beatle and mentioned that on occasions George would ring and ask could he accompany him when he was delivering cars. The dealer always thought it strange that an ex-Beatle and one of the world’s most famous men should want to do this. But then he said he realised that George’s days weren’t too full in the post – Beatles era.
The compliments slip measures 18.3cm x 8.9cm (7.2 inches x 3.5 inches). There is little creasing to the slip. The condition is very good minus.
